Photoshop w/ Cintiq & pen. Screwing around with some Godzilla sketches on a Sunday afternoon. Was attempting to keep him tough and brutish like an angry bulldog combined with a gila monster, but also keep some of his sumo wrestler quality.
I adore your take on the Godzilla look, you've made him look like the original and yet added your own touches. Its how i would picture him big and ponderous. You can definitely tell its Godzilla, you got the color and skin texture perfectly captured. Its a great drawing ,with lots of motion in the pose. I also love what you've done with his head , the Gila monster reference is perfect, thats how i see him too. Great illustration and so much detail gone into it too, stunning. I like it a lot (-:
Thank you for the comment! What Godzilla should look like and represent is a very personal thing, I believe. Even the films have portrayed him very differently throughout the years. From natural unstoppable force to savior of earth. From almost god like power to demonic villain. I always liked Godzilla of 1962-1969 era. When he was a more down to earth tough guy persona. He just wants to be who he is and is always willing to defend his territory. Not really good and not really bad. But that is just personal opinion and honestly, I find all the different versions of Godzilla equally entertaining.
